An AmericanWerewolf in London... Restoration.
Hace mucho tiempo quería escribir este post. Esta es una película de cine de horror de 1981 dirigida por Jhon Landis que es hoy una película de culto. Fue muy innovadora ya que hasta el momento era complicado imaginarse una película de Horror basado en el hombre lobo y con toques de Humor sin caer en lo ridículo o Trash… esta película lo logró y de un forma magistral, contiene un humor negro (muy al estilo humor ingles) ! y es lo máximo! ……….. es una de mis películas de cine de horror favoritas y que no me canso de ver cada vez que la repiten (por cierto hace mucho que no la repiten en ningún lado)…
I wanted to write this post a long time ago.This is an horror film of 1981 directed by Jhon Landis that is today a cult film. It was very innovating since until the moment he was complicated to imagine a film of Horror based on the Werewolf with a touch of Humor without falling in the ridiculous situation or Trash… this film obtained it and of a skillful form, contains a black humor (very to the English´s humor style) and it´s great! ........... she is one of my favorite films of horror cinema and that I do not get tired to see they repeat whenever it (by the way long ago that does not repeat it in any side)…
para los que no la vieron aquí tienen el argumento de la película con la ayuda del wikipedia y es más o menos así:
La historia presenta a dos estudiantes universitarios de Nueva York, David y Jack, que deciden hacer un recorrido por las ciudades más importantes de Europa, como París, Roma y Berlín entre otras. Mientras se dirigen a Londres en su recorrido a Italia, un camionero los alcanza hasta un pueblo cercano para que busquen un lugar donde pasar la noche. Así llegan al bar La oveja degollada. Una vez adentro notan con curiosidad una estrella de cinco picos en la pared, pero al preguntar qué función cumple, todos los clientes cesan su conversación y piden a los protagonistas que se vayan. Cuando se marchan, son advertidos de que han de seguir camino por la carretera, sin adentrarse en los páramos, y además deben cuidarse de la luna llena pero aun así y a su pesar, terminan perdiendo el rumbo. De pronto son atacados por una gran sombra con forma animal; Jack muere durante el ataque pero a David logra ser rescatado a tiempo con algunas heridas. Cuando la gente de La oveja degollada logra matar al atacante se muestra lo que parece ser un hombre.
David despierta en un hospital en Londres, donde le informan sobre la muerte de su amigo. Jack se aparece ante David como un fantasma con el aspecto de cadáver. Este le explica que fueron atacados por un hombre lobo, y que por haber sobrevivido David lo es también ahora. Jack le pide a David que se suicide para acabar con la maldición del hombre lobo y para evitar que más inocentes se conviertan en eventuales víctimas.
Luego de abandonar el hospital, David se muda con la enfermera Alex Prince, por quien se siente atraído. David se encuentra allí cuando vuelve a aparecer la luna llena, como advirtió Jack, se convierte en un hombre lobo. En su nueva forma recorre las calles de Londres y termina asesinando a varias personas. Cuando se despierta en la mañana, aparece desnudo en la jaula de los lobos del jardín zoológico, totalmente ignorante de lo qué ocurrió la noche anterior.
Eventualmente David se da cuenta de que Jack tenía razón sobre los hombres lobo y de que él es responsable por los asesinatos de la noche pasada. Jack vuelve a aparecer como un fantasma, pero esta vez acompañado por aquellos que fueron víctimas de David, pidiéndole nuevamente que se suicide antes de que vuelva a convertirse en un hombre lobo. David no cumple el pedido y vuelve a transformarse y comienza otra seguidilla de asesinatos.
Esta vez la policía lo persigue y logra arrinconarlo. También llega Alex que trata de calmarlo diciéndole que lo ama. Aunque por un momento se muestra manso, la policía le dispara cuando éste trata de escapar. Mientras muere, recupera su aspecto humano.

for that people that did not see it here they have the film´s argument with the aid of wikipedia and is something like this:
Two American college students, David Kessler (David Naughton) and Jack Goodman (Griffin Dunne), are backpacking across the Yorkshire moors. As darkness falls, and they decide to stop for the night at a pub called "The Slaughtered Lamb". Jack notices a five-pointed star on the wall. When he asks about it, the pub becomes very quiet. The pub-goers start acting very strangely. The pair decide to leave, but not before the others offer them pieces of advice such as "Beware the moon, lads" and "Keep to the road." Whilst conversing with each other and wondering what they meant, they wander off the road, onto the moors.
Back at the pub, the owner gets very distressed and suggests that they go after the pair. As she says this, a sinister howling is heard. The rest of the pub-goers, having barricaded the door, decline. Back out on the moors, Jack and David have also heard the howls, and they seem to be steadily getting closer. They start back to the Slaughtered Lamb when they realize they are disorientated and lost on the moors. A full moon comes out from behind the clouds, and they remember the advice they were given earlier. The noises get steadily closer until they are stopped by a supernaturally large animal. The animal attacks both of them, and kills Jack. The animal is then shot and killed by the pub-goers, who have now emerged. David survives the mauling and is taken to a hospital in London. The plot does not explain why the hero is required to travel 250 miles to reach a hospital. When he wakes up three weeks later, he does not remember what happened and is told of his friend's death.
Things get stranger when Jack, now a reanimated corpse, comes to visit David, who explains that they had
been attacked by a werewolf, and stating that David himself is, in fact, now a werewolf. Jack urges David to kill himself before the next full moon, not only because Jack is cursed to exist in a state of living death for as long as the bloodline of the werewolf that attacked them survives, but also to prevent David from inflicting the same fate on his eventual victims.
Upon his release from the hospital, David moves in with the pretty young nurse, Alex Price (Jenny Agutter), who grew infatuated with him in the hospital. He then stays in Alex's London apartment, where they later have sex. Jack then comes back to see David and tells him that he'll turn into a werewolf the next day and keeps telling him to take his own life, because he will kill and make other living dead like Jack. When the full moon rises, as Jack had warned, he begins to feel excruciating pain before stripping nude and turning into a werewolf. In his werewolf form, David prowls the streets and the London Underground and slaughters six innocent Londoners. When he wakes in the morning, he is naked on the floor of the wolf cage at London Zoo with no memory of his nocturnal lupine adventures, but unharmed by the resident wolves.
David eventually realizes that Jack was right about everything and that he is responsible for the murders of the night before. Despite being in an advanced stage of decay, Jack returns for another visit, this time accompanied by David's victims from the previous night. They all insist that he must commit suicide before turning into a werewolf again. Whilst talking with them, night falls and, consequently, David turns into a werewolf again and goes on another killing spree. Following a chase through London, he is cornered in an alley by the police when Alex arrives to calm him down by telling him that she loves him. Though he is apparently temporarily softened, he is shot and killed when he lunges forward, returning to human form in front of a grieving Alex as he dies.

Tendría muchísimo más que decir sobre esta película pero no es mi intensión hacer una reseña detallada o una crítica de cine porque este post (ni el blog) no pretende hacer crítica cinematográfica, creo que para ello hay mejores blogs dedicados al cine, aquí tratare básicamente sobre los efectos visuales que por cierto fueron merecedores de un premio Oscar a mejor maquillaje, y es que esta película con sus prótesis y fantásticos efectos de transformación fue toda una innovación en la industria, además que presento el que creo es el hombre lobo mas terrorífico jamás creado y es precisamente eso de lo que hoy quiero hablar sobre el traje de este hombre-Lobo.
I would have many more to say about this film but it´s not my intention to inspect a detailed review or a cinema critic about this movie because this post (and the blog either) does not try to make critic of cinema, I think that for it there is better blogs dedicated to the cinema critic, here will try basically about the visual effects that by the way were deserving of an Oscar prize for better makeup, and is that this film with it prothesis and fantastic transformation effects was all an innovation in the industry, in addition that I present/display the one that I create is the most horrific werewolf never created and he is indeed that than today I want to speak about the suit of this werewolf.
Este hombre lobo fue espectacular ya que hasta ese momento creo que todos tenían la imagen del clásico hombre lobo interpretado por el genial Lon Chaney jr. ..
this werewof was brilliant until that moment I think that all people had the image of the classic werewolf performed by the brilliant Lon Chaney Jr.
Pero luego del lanzamiento de Lobo Americano en Londres, los hombres lobo no volverían a ser lo mismo…

Luego de varios años (como sucede con muchos de los objetos usados en el cine), el traje de este espectacular hombre lobo fue adquirido por un fanático y coleccionista de ciencia ficción llamado Bob Burns pero con los años el traje se deterioró de manera desastrosa y es entonces que contacta con el artista Tom Spina quien se dedica a diseñar, construir y restaurar este tipo de material de cine… y pues a esto quería llegar (por fin)… aquí les muestro las fotos del proceso de restauración del genial traje del hombre Lobo en Londres… (Basta de texto por favor)
After several years (as it happens to many of the objects used in the cinema), the suit of this spectacular werewolf was acquired by a science fiction´s fanatic and collector called Bob Burns but with the years the suit deteriorated itself of disastrous way and is then he contacts with the artist Tom Spina that is dedicated to design, construct and to recover this type of material of cinema… and then to this wanted to arrive (finally)… I´d like to show you here the pictures of the restoration´s process of the brilliant suit of the werewolf to them in London here… (no more text please)

Creo que el resultado habla por sí solo.. quedo genial como recién salido del taller de efectos visuales…
I think that the result speaks by itself. It stay brilliant as just left the factory of visual effects…
